果酱视频官网 academic Dr Angel Medina-Vaya has been appointed chair of a committee dedicated to promoting the importance of research into fungal biology.

Dr Medina-Vaya, Senior Lecturer in Food Mycology within the Cranfield Soil and AgriFood Institute, and Director of the Cranfield AgriFood MSc programme, commenced his new role as Chair of the 鈥檚 Fungal Biology Research Committee this week, having previous served as its internal liaison officer.

The committee aims to increase recognition of mycological science in the UK and internationally by engaging and inspiring future generations of fungal biologists, promoting networking across the mycological community, and strengthening links with funding bodies and industry.

Commenting on his appointment, Dr Medina-Vaya said: 鈥淚t is a great honour to have been appointed to this role. The British Mycological Society is one of the oldest learned societies in the world and has been one of my main points of reference since I joined Cranfield to find information, meet colleagues from around the world and support the dissemination of my research."

Dr Medina-Vaya is currently leading internationally-recognised research on the impact that climate change environmental conditions have on fungal diseases in plants, with particular focus on mycotoxins.
