This course includes 3 modules:

  • Modules 1 and 2 are online and self-paced, so you choose where and when you learn.
  • Module 3 is live online with peers and Cranfield faculty to embed your knowledge and learnings.

Module one – Strategic management of change

Online self-paced learning (estimated four hours – plus reflection activities)

Develop an advanced understanding of the strategic management of change and how to get strategy implemented.

  • Appreciate the overlap and differences between strategy formulation and strategy implementation.
  • Assess the relative importance of different reasons for strategic failure.
  • Analyse a strategic environment and apply approaches to identify potential success factors and implementation blockers.
  • Appreciate the elements of the Viable Systems Model.

Module two – Implementing strategy

Online self-paced learning (estimated six hours – plus reflection activities) 

Introducing the tools, models and processes of strategy implementation.

  • Evaluate strategy and strategic processes against the elements of the Viable Systems Model.
  • Analyse and assess an organisation’s strategy control processes.
  • Analyse and assess an organisation’s levers of strategic control.
  • Explore approaches to strategic performance measurement frameworks.
  • Discover the success mapping process, allowing line managers to be involved in creating strategy.

Module three – Application and evaluation of strategic processes

Live online (two half days, five hours each – plus reflection activities)

To embed and enhance your learning from the two online modules, you’ll join peers and our expert faculty in a live online environment to advance your understanding of strategic management.

  • Apply strategic processes for critically assessing strategy.
  • Apply strategic processes for the implementation of strategy.
  • Apply strategic processes for the cascading of strategy.
  • Evaluate the implementation of strategy and the likelihood of success through the application of an audit tool.
