Stringfellow Hall is a very popular hall of residence offering 196 single, en suite bedrooms. It is conveniently located just a short walk from Mitchell Hall reception and the lecture and laboratory facilities. 

  • Car parking spaces are located at the front and back of the buildings.
  • No smoking is permitted within Stringfellow Hall.

Our accommodation is managed in accordance with for University Managed Accommodation.

Fees (2025-26 academic session)

  • Stringfellow Hall, en suite, self-catered room: £30.44 per day.
  • Stringfellow Hall, en suite, catered room: £35.76 per day (includes a daily meal allowance).

These rates are for 2025-26 and all rates are subject to change for 2026-27.

Bedrooms

There are a total of 196 single bedrooms, which are on average 17.5m2 in size. Each bedroom is fully-furnished with the following:

  • wardrobe
  • drawers
  • single bed
  • bedside cabinet
  • desk and desk chair
  • notice board
  • study lamp
  • litter bin
  • wireless internet facilities.

Catering

Self-catered rooms

Those in self-catered accommodation will share kitchen facilities with the students who live in each flat.

The kitchens are fully equipped with the following:

  • fridge freezer
  • cooker
  • microwave
  • toaster and kettle
  • crockery, cooking and eating utensils.

Catered rooms

For residents in catered accommodation at Stringfellow Hall there are limited kitchen facilities. A shared fridge, microwave and a kettle are available for residents and are perfect for preparing snacks or light meals.

You will receive a meal card with a daily food allowance, which is sufficient for at least one main meal. Your meal card will be loaded with the appropriate amount of credit at the beginning of each month, enabling you to manage the balance to suit your own requirements.

Our meal cards may be used in the Reggie's restaurant located in Mitchell Hall; in Cranberries, located in the Stafford-Cripps building, and Cafe 52, in the Vincent building.

 

Bathrooms

All rooms in Stringfellow Hall have a private bathroom which includes:

  • a toilet and hand basin
  • shower
  • and mirror.

Cleaning

We carry out weekly cleaning of the communal areas such as kitchens and corridors.

Heating and electricity

The heating is usually on from October to April.

Living in Stringfellow Hall has been a good experience. The rooms and kitchen are in very good condition, and the attention provided by the accommodation staff is excellent. We usually threw dinner parties at least once a week.
